What Are Treasury Shares?

Treasury shares are basically the previously outstanding shares repurchased from shareholders. The issuing company buys the stock back from the stockholders and holds it. Treasury shares are  usually recorded on the company’s balance sheet in the shareholder equity section.   In the Companies Act 2006, the chapter 6 part 18 states the updated and detailed provisions associated with holding treasury shares. Treasury stock actually came into being in the year 2003. The main purpose of this stock is to enable companies to hold shares by repurchasing the shares from existing stockholders. What Is A Cap Table?

A cap table, also known as a capitalization table and, well to be honest, is nothing but a fancy spreadsheet. A Cap table contains information about who owns those shares or what prices the investors have paid for them. Therefore, in other words, it can be said that a cap table contains the list of a company’s potential sources of funding, acquisitions and mergers, initial public offerings and other financial transactions. The Cap table tracks the individual shareholder’s equity ownership. Source:  https://datagardener.com/blogs/what-is-a-cap-table/
